Wine of the Month......... We are fortunate to have Laurie Toth as our wine resource expert. Laurie is a certified sommelier and is highly educated in food and wine pairing. She has travelled all over the world learning about wines that would please any palate. You will find Laurie at Heinens in Avon helping customers locate just the perfect selection for any occasion.
This month's wine of the month is a 2007 Luchador Shiraz. Shiraz is one of the hottest wines today. Australia owns the name "Shiraz", but is known as Syrah in other parts of the world. It is a medium to full-bodied wine with characteristics of ripe raspberries, blackberries, plum, and a touch of game, spice, and some pepper. Luchador means a fighter or a wine that will "body slam" your tongue! This wine does all that and more! It is rich, "jammy", and aromatic, with a complex structure and a lengthy finish that will knock you off your feet! Perfect food pairings include lamb, game, grilled foods, and red pastas. DIARY OF A FAT MAN
It's no secret around our office that our dental hygienist, Tamara, not only loves dental health, but truly believes in and preaches overall systemic wellness. She has been urging me for years to eat healthier and to get fit for life. So, with great anxiety, I've decided to take the plunge! Beginning June 24th, I will embark upon a 100 day fitness odyssey with direction and guidance from personal trainer Craig Cassell NCSF, CPT at the POWERHOUSE GYM in North Olmsted. Now, I know you're laughing, but hear me out! Being overweight and working in a hunched-over position for 26 years with aching knees and an aching back, has made such simple tasks as walking or getting in and out of a car tedious to say the least. So twice a week I will be training with Craig to increase my strength and flexibility, while hopefully losing a little "tonnage" along the way. THE EXCITING OPPORTUNITY IS...I'm looking for two of our patients to volunteer to go on this journey with me! Twice a week you will individually train with Craig and, in between sessions, you'll enjoy full use of the facilities at The Powerhouse Gym in North Olmsted. The best news is that for 100 days, it will be totally free! That's right, no cost to you! Now, we're not looking for you buff, fit, and chiseled guys and gals! We're looking for 2 people who want to GET FIT and feel better. Success will equal completeing the 100 day program, and reaching your individual goals you establish with the trainer, whatever they may be. Craig is a graduate if The University of Akron where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology and Sport Studies Concentration. He is certified as a Personal Trainer (CPT) by the National Council of Strength and Fitness (NCFS). His specialties include:

Giving Back........
Please help us to raise money through the Smiles for Life Campaign to benefit The Bridge Avenue School and The Garth Brooks Children's Foundation.  In order to benefit The Garth Brooks Foundation and The Bridge Avenue School, we have reduced the cost of teeth whitening by $150 and ALL of the proceeds go to the aforementioned charities and are tax deductible. The Bridge Avenue School is a Christian middle school on the near west side of Cleveland serving previously unsuccessful students. The school is looking to move and grow to serve more students, and the funds from Smiles for Life will serve as seed money for a capital campaign starting in earnest this summer.
Students at The Bridge Avenue School perform years below grade level upon enrollment and consistently make years of academic recovery each school year. Students work through the Wilson Language System in many cases learning to read for the first time. Math curriculum is individualized and an army of volunteers provides regular one-on-one tutoring. Students arrive at The Bridge Avenue School unable to succeed in school at any level either because of academic or personal behavior and leave able to succeed in high school.
